How many phone lines do I need to order?

If you are an established business, then you can request a Call Traffic Study. A Call Traffic Study will report the maximum calls to your main number in any given hour and usually recommend how many total lines you need. If you are a new business and just getting started, then I believe you always need one more phone line than what you think you need. It costs so much to get a new client that you cannot afford to lose them to a busy.

What are the differences between lines and extensions?

Lines are what you talk to the outside world with. A single Line is typically considered a CO. CO stands for Central Office, so if you want to add a line, you order a Central Office Line. Typically each line has its own phone number. Extensions are the telephone desk sets and wireless / cordless phones attached to the telephone system. Sometimes people call extensions handsets, we prefer to call them desk sets. While at your desk, you pickup your Extension to use a Line to call or receive an incoming call.
